Private First Class Christopher A. Sikes enlisted in the US Army as an Infantryman from Conyers, GA. He served in the 9th Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, WA. Upon ETS, he attended Isothermal Community College and NC State University where he obtained a BA in History. During this time SPC Sikes served in the NC National Guard. Upon graduation, Chris was commissioned as a 2LT in the Ordnance Corps and was assigned to the 82d Airborne Division.

Chris served as a Maintenance Company Commander in the 2d Infantry Division in Korea. CPT Sikes used that knowledge to teach the Officer’s Basic Course (OBC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. After 9/11, Chris took the opportunity to join Civil Affairs to fight the War on Terror.

While assigned to C Company, 96th Civil Affairs Battalion, CPT Sikes served as a Team Leader and Civil Military Operations Center (CMOC) Chief. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Iraq in support of Combined Special Operations Task Force- Arabian Peninsula CJSOTF-AP). Applying this knowledge, MAJ Sikes taught the Civil Affairs Qualification Course (CAQC) and Regional Analysis Course. MAJ Sikes commanded B Company of 3d Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (SWTG).

MAJ Sikes deployed to Baghdad with the 2d Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division for Operation NEW DAWN. Upon completion of that tour, LTC Sikes was assigned to the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and Schools (USAJFKSWCS). He served as the Civil Affairs Branch Force Modernization Chief and the Civil Affairs Personnel Proponent Chief.

LTC Sikes moved to Izmir, Turkey and worked in NATO Land Command. He was there for the attempted coup in July 2016. LTC Sikes spent a year in Turkey and was reassigned to the 82d Airborne Division.

As the 82d Airborne Division Civil Affairs Planning Officer (G-9), LTC Sikes participated in many exercises and planned and executed the 82d participation in the 75th anniversary celebrations in Normandy, France. He retired in 2019.

LTC Sikes is the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) for Southwestern Randolph High School in Asheboro, NC.

LTC Sikes has been married to the former Melody Buiwe since 2016. They have 4 children. LTC Sikes enjoys skeet shooting, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family.
